No Bats 2001 Oct. 18 - 21, 2001 Chicago, IL

2001 was set to mark back-to-back years for No Bats playing in a Major League stadium. This year it was scheduled for the Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field. However, with the unfortunate events of the September 11th attacks, Major League Baseball postponed the season for a week. As a result, No Bats was moved from Wrigley Field to Alexian Field in the Western Suburbs of Chicago.

This was a particularly difficult season in No Bats history. One of the club's members, George Simmons, was a passenger on the plane that crashed into the Pentagon on September 11th. In his honor, the club presents a member every year with the George Simmons Award.

Cubs Care Money raised: $56,238

Donation funding to assist construction of an inner-city baseball diamond to help at-risk youth

Contributions to Cubs Care are made through memorials, tributes and direct donations, as well as the proceeds from Chicago Cubs events. Net proceeds are matched 50 cents on the dollar by the McCormick Foundation. The Cubs and the Foundation also pay all administrative costs, so 100 percent of contributions, plus the match, are granted back to agencies helping those in need.
